Ammo Type 7.92×57mm Mauser
Magazine Size 50 rounds

The MG42 is a weapon featured in Post Scriptum. It features a blistering rate of fire of 1200 rounds per minute, making it an excellent weapon for pinning and suppressing enemy infantry. However, its small magazine size (50 rounds) and ammo pool (4 spare mags) can limit its effectiveness.

While the MG34 is better suited in an offensive role, possessing more accurate "hip fire" and a lower rate of fire, which in turn increases accuracy, the MG42 is best used in defence, where its high rate of fire can be used to effectively lock down entire sightlines. In combination with ammo refils nearby, the MG42 makes for a deadly opponent.

In order to spare ammunition and increase your effectiveness, it is recommended to only fire in short bursts of about 5 shots, wait one second, and fire another burst at an enemy. This way, you do not waste unnecessary ammo while still fulfilling the MG42's role of suppressing infantry. However, don't be afraid to fire wildly at large groups of enemies in order to buy your team some time.
